The Terry and Maureen Hopkins Foundation

The Terry and Maureen Hopkins Foundation was established by the Late Maureen Hopkins in 2017. Maureen established the foundation to support medical research into the causes of and a cure for Bowel Cancer Research and Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Dementia. She left a significant gift from her Estate to her foundation which continues to support these causes. The foundation will vest in 2037.

AET PAF Pty Ltd is the foundation’s trustee and supports the advisory committee in reviewing applications and evaluating charitable partnerships aligned to addressing the impact of AD and Dementia.

Eligible charities can apply for funding via an expression of interest process aligned with the Foundation’s giving strategy which has been developed via the Giving Connect service.

AET works with eligible organisations to develop grant applications aligned with the Foundation’s giving strategy. Applications are then considered by the Foundation’s advisory committee, chaired by Mr Mark Barry.

The Foundation currently supports organisations whose research and services are aligned with the strategy’s pillars summarised below:

  • Research to address the current gaps in knowledge of the underlying causes of dementia and AD and the mechanisms that underpin disease progression.
  • Improve dementia diagnostic tools and technologies.
  • Research to develop new treatments that aim to slow or even halt dementia progression.
  • Implement evidence-based clinical and care-setting practices that support wellbeing and promote quality of life.

The Foundation receives expressions of interest in projects for funding up to the value of $50,000 per annum and may consider supporting multiple year funding agreements with suitable charitable partners are identified.

Organisations who complete an expression of interest may be invited to complete a detailed application form.

The Committee recommends funding partners to the trustee and successful partners will be advised of their application in early June each year.

Funding decisions are made in line with The foundation’s giving strategy. We suggest you consider the following steps prior to contacting us directly:

  • Step 1: Familiarise yourself with the foundation’s giving strategy and identify whether or not your organisational priorities are likely to align with the foundation’s broad goal.
  • Step 2: Register your interest by completing the expression of interest form.
Please note: Unfortunately, due to the number of enquiries we receive, we will only respond to expressions of interest we believe are aligned with the foundation’s giving strategy.
  • Step 3: You may be contacted by AET to complete a detailed application form for consideration by the foundation’s advisory committee.
