Head of Philanthropy and Social Investment

In his capacity as Head of Philanthropy and Social Investment, Ben contributes to AET’s leadership team and manages AET’s philanthropy and native title teams. He is Chair of AET’s specialist philanthropic corporate trustee (AET PAF Pty Ltd), AET’s Discretionary Grants Committee and is a member of AET’s Investments Committee.
Ben joined AET in 2015 and has extensive experience working in philanthropy, bequests and major gift fundraising and charitable funds management. He also worked as a fine art auctioneer with international auction houses, Sotheby’s and Christies.
Ben graduated with an Honours degree in History from the University of Melbourne (Ormond College) and in 2007 was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to investigate philanthropic stabilisation funds, an innovative funding model pioneered in the US and Canada.
Ben has held numerous board and advisory committee positions with not-for-profit organisations, including board member for the Gertrude Contemporary and Resale Royalty Advisory Committee for Copyright Agency Limited. Currently, Ben is Chair of AET’s Discretionary Grants Program which oversees the distribution of approximately $1million per annum in discretionary charitable grants and a member of the AET Investment Committee.
